In his second season of management, Mike New will be looking to help his team recover from the disappointment of missing out on the playoffs last year.

Fans fears of losing their backcourt duo of Demarius Bolds and Stefan Gill were eased when both signed new contracts in the summer. Bolds had an awesome rookie year in the BBL, leading the league in steals and averaging 21 points and 4 assists a game.

There are new additions to the lions front line this year with the signings of American College graduates Daniel Northern and Howard Crawford, both standing at 6”9. Crawford will create many problems for defenders with great footwork and space awareness allowing him to be a crucial finisher at the rim. Following graduation from Georgia Tech, Northern went to Spain to kick start his pro career in 08. He did well averaging eight points and six rebounds per outing and his stats have been rising ever since.

Coach New has also added the promising young talent of 21 year-old Brit Nathan Schall who has collected every honour at under 18 level the game has to offer with the Manchester Magic. He also was a key part in the Magic’s EBL playoff success.

Acquiring these players has given Coach New and Lions fans the hope to achieve great potential and push for the 2011/12 playoffs.
