New arena boost for Jets

Cheshire Jets’ long-term future in the BBL has received a boost with the news that funding for a new state-of-the-arena has been approved in principle.
The Jets’ current home at the tired Northgate Arena does not reach BBL standards, and they must find a new home by 2014 or face losing their place in the league.
But it has been reported in the local press that funding has been approved for an £11m replacement for the ageing EPIC Leisure Centre, which would include a new home for the Jets.
The only stumbling block for the Jets could be timescale – 2014 is seen as an “aspiration” rather than a fixed date for completion of the project, which suggests that there may still be a few twists and turns on the way.
