Colbert not a fan of two-legged system

Plymouth power forward Lehmon Colbert admits he finds the two-legged system in place for the BBL Cup semi-finals “a bit strange” as his side prepare for their double header against Worcester at the weekend.

Plymouth power forward Lehmon Colbert admits he finds the two-legged system in place for the BBL Cup semi-finals “a bit strange” as his side prepare for their double header against Worcester at the weekend.

In both BBL knockout competitions and the play-offs, the semi-finals are decided over two legs, and it is something that isn’t often used in the basketball world.

Colbert said: “I’m not really used to it, and it does seem a bit strange. I don’t really like the two-leg system, but that’s what we have to do, and at least all of our players except one have experienced it before.”

Colbert and the Raiders take on Worcester for a place in the final at the NIA in Birmingham on January 15th, where they will face Newcastle, who beat Leicester Riders in their semi-final.

He added: “We’ve had a tough time in the last two games against Worcester, but we’re working hard in practice and we’re looking forward to it.

“We need to contain their shooters, and play total team defence like we did against Leicester on Sunday. We were all on the same page defensively, and we need to do that again.”
