Guildford try again for first win at Glasgow

Guildford beat Glasgow three times last season, but it could well be a different story when the two sides meet at Kelvin Hall on Sunday.

Guildford beat Glasgow three times last season, but it could well be a different story when the two sides meet at Kelvin Hall on Sunday.

The Rocks have started the season well, sitting in third place in the BBL table, while Guildford have lost all 11 of their matches so far.

They came close to ended that run against Worcester last weekend, leading by six points going in to the fourth quarter, before going down 98-93. Meanwhile, the Rocks were beaten 89-85 by old rivals Newcastle.

Heat coach Creon Raftopoulos said: “Sterling has put together a strong team and I believe they the only team to beat the Eagles this year. The little I have seen of them reminds me about our team: they’re fast, athletic and have good shooters in their line-up. We got the better of them last season in all three games so I’m sure Sterling will be happy to get one off us.

“Mychal Green has been huge for them picking up the scoring load in the absence of EJ Harrison and we will look to do the best defensive job we can on him. Gareth Murray is improving season after season and game after game. Once just a three point threat, his game has evolved into being an all round player you can count on. I also rate Sterling as one of the best forwards in this league and on his day can be a threat inside and out.”
