In-form Plymouth ready for Tigers

Plymouth Raiders will look to continue their fine form when they host Mersey Tigers at the Pavilions.

The Raiders followed up their BBL Cup semi-final success by hammering Glasgow Rocks 94-67 to sit fifth in the BBL table with a 4-2 record. Meanwhile, Tigers’ early season woes continued as they were beaten 82-76 at home by strugglers Guildford Heat, and they are now outside the play-off positions.

Understandably, Raiders coach Gavin Love was delighted with that win against the Rocks: “We performed well against the Rocks. Paul Williams and Jeremy Bell both had solid games. Andrew Wedemire and Jonny Bunyan have good games for the Rocks.”

Despite their poor start to the season, Love is expecting a tough game when the Tigers arrive at Plymouth Pavilions: “I have seen the Tigers who look to be a hungry well-organised team who I’m sure will pick up more wins soon and I know will be tough opponents.

“I think David Aliu has had a good start to the season and Kris Douse is having a good rookie year.”

Aliu is the only remaining Tiger from last season’s treble winning Mersey side, and is averaging 16 points and eight rebounds, while Douse is averaging 14.8 points and 6.4 boards for Tony Garbelotto’s side.
