Freeman – I was in the zone

Worcester star Tommy Freeman brought a new meaning to “hot streak” at the weekend, as he poured in 40 points in the 100-80 victory over Plymouth Raiders.

Freeman, 23, has been one of the league’s shining lights this season, and the small forward has helped the Wolves up to second place in the BBL table.

He told the club’s official website: “I’ve never been in a zone like that before, everything was going in. Our big guys were setting screens for me, and I made the most of my opportunities. I was putting it up there like the coach wants me to, and the shots just kept falling.”

The defeat of Plymouth was the perfect tonic for Worcester, who gained revenge for the BBL Cup semi-final loss at the hands of the same opponents before Christmas.

And Paul James’ men will be a team even favourites Newcastle will be weary of come play-off time.

Freeman added: “We’re in the top four and that’s where we want to stay. We’ll continue to focus on one game at a time.”

Freeman is in his first season in the BBL having joined from college team Ohio Bobcats, where he set the Ohio career record with 259 three pointers, including a season record 99 in 2010/11.
