Garbelotto unsure over unpredictable play-off chase

Mersey coach Tony Garbelotto still isn’t sure what his side need to do to reach the play-offs, as they enter the final third of the season.

Three wins in their last four games away from home against Glasgow, Guildford and Durham have put the Tigers well in contention for the play-offs, and they now face a resurgent Sheffield Sharks in back to back games.

Sunday’s televised victory at Durham Wildcats leaves Mersey 10th, two points behind Cheshire and Guildford, and just four points behind 7th placed Milton Keynes, who have been dragged in to the battle for the last two play-off spots.

The next two Friday’s give the Tigers the chance to shorten the eight point advantage the Sharks currently hold over them.

Garbelotto said: “I have no idea. Truly, I’m just concentrating on the game ahead. We have been so inconsistent that’s all we can do. We have a massive three game series against the Sharks and we play Guildford and Chester for the head-head, so who knows? When Guildford can beat Plymouth it sometimes does not matter what we do. There are so many meaningful games to play.”
