Plymouth coach: It’s not just me

With his team sitting third in the BBL and having the upper hand in their second cup final of the year, Plymouth Raiders coach Gavin Love is understandably delighted with how things are going.

After defeating the Newcastle Eagles 97-88 in the first-leg of the BBL Trophy Final at the weekend, Plymouth have a very realistic chance of silverware coming their way this month.

However, Love has moved to ensure that it isn’t just he and the players that are getting credit for Plymouth’s success, saying that everyone at the club has played their part.

Speaking about this very issue to bblfans.com, he said: “I think a lot of credit has to be given to the organisation as a whole. People behind the scenes are working hard to put a great product on the floor.”

“A lot of work has been done off the court. Our Chairman has put a lot of time in to make sure we have the sponsors that our enthusiastic towards basketball and willing to help us in any way they can.”

“This has helped me be able to go out and put together a competitive team. Hopefully this is something we can continue to do.”

“It’s not just me and it’s not just the players, it’s the whole organisation that has worked really hard this year to give us a good basketball team.”

Things could get even better for Love and Plymouth in the next few weeks too as he targets one of the ‘most successful seasons of all time’.

He continued: “Last year my goal was to make the play-offs and we did that very well coming in fifth spot.”

“This year we are aiming to get a top four spot and have succeeded my expectations in terms of the fact we have made two cup finals.”

“We have only made two cup finals in our entire existence combined, so to do it twice in one year is fantastic.”

“If we can stay in the top four and make two cup finals, it will be one of our most successful seasons of all time. I am very happy with how things have gone.”

Next up for Plymouth is the second-leg of the BBL Trophy Final in Newcastle on Friday evening.
