Drew Sullivan stays at Leicester

Great Britain captain Drew Sullivan has re-signed for Leicester Riders for the 2012/13 season.

Great Britain captain Drew Sullivan has re-signed for Leicester Riders for the 2012/13 season.

Sullivan, 32, is currently awaiting the start of the London Olympics, and will now be remaining in the BBL once his GB commitments have finished for the summer.

He helped the Riders to their most successful season ever last term, winning 22 games and reaching the BBL play-off final.

Sullivan said: “One of the the reasons I chose to return to Leicester was the chance to continue something that was started last season.

“We came extremely close to winning silverware, so returning to the club offers me the opportunity to achieve that goal.

“Another reason and probably the biggest reason why I have returned to the Riders is the relationship that I’ve developed with (General Manager) Russell Levenston.

“We’ve become really good friends and he’s also looked after my interests on and off the court. So when the opportunity was presented that we could continue to work with each other it made a lot of sense.”

Sullivan has previously won every single BBL honour during spells with Newcastle Eagles and Mersey Tigers, from whom he joined the Riders at the beginning of last season.
